Concordia, KS - The
Neosho Women's Basketball team fell Wednesday night against the Cloud County T-Birds, 82-65.
Neosho came out firing on all cylinders to start the first quarter and grabbed a 7 point lead. However, the T-Birds fought back and tied the game up at 18 points to end the first quarter. During the second quarter Neosho was outscored 25 -13 by the T-Birds, which lead to the Panthers trailing the T-Birds 43-31 to end the first half.
To start the second half both teams came out cold and were scoreless for the first three minutes. Cloud County was the first team to end the scoring drought with a short jumper in the lane with 6:45 remaining in the quarter. The T-birds continued to roll from that point on and outscored the Panthers 21-12, closing the third with the T-Birds leading by 21 points.
Neosho fought back scoring 22 of their 65 points for the game in the fourth quarter. But it was not enough for the Panthers to take home the road win.
The Panthers went 6-39 from the arc shooting 15.4%.
Neosho shot 28.6% from the field making 24 of the 84 shot attempts.
Neosho also struggled from the line tonight going 11-24.
Redshirt Freshman
Kelcey Hinz led the Panthers in scoring with 23 and 11 rebounds. Freshman
Jessica Jones added 14 points.
The Panthers are back on the road Saturday, February
23rd, as they travel to
Iola to take on the Allen Red Devils. The game is set to tip-off at 2:00 p.m.
