SETTING THE SCENE
The Panthers are coming off their second victory of the season with a 91-67 win over Hesston College. Freshman
Trey Bates came off the bench to lead the Panthers in scoring knocking down 4 of 6 from three-point range and finishing 7 for 9 from the field scoring 18 points. Bates also got it done on the defensive end getting 3 steals that turned into fast break points for the Panthers.  Also in double digit scoring for the Panthers was Tory Cargo with 16 points (4 for 8 from deep),
Deonte Hicks chipped in 14 points, while
Corbett Kimberlin scored 11 points.
Â
Spotlighting one of the double digit scorers is true freshman guard Tory Cargo who is originally from New Orleans, LA, where he played football and basketball for Landry Walker High School. Cargo a combo guard scored 16 points on 4 of 8 from three-point land and 6 of 14 from the field.
Â
"Tory is that guy who can explode for several buckets at any time in the game and he can really shoot the ball." head coach
Jeremy Coombs said. "Cargo is also a really scrappy defender and forces a lot of turnovers on the defensive end."
Â
SCOUTING HIGHLAND
Highland is 2-0 on the season after beating Saint Mary's College JV and Graceland College JV this past weekend. Â The Scotties are averaging 97 points per game, while grabbing 50.5 rebounds and dishing out 21.5 assists per game. Â The Scotties are led by Rashon Johnson who is averaging 18.5 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game.
Â
"This will be a real challenge for us as they are extremely talented and well coached." Coombs Said. "They play super-fast and defend very well, so we will need to play extremely smart and match their intensity if we want a chance to win."
