THIS DAY IN PANTHER BASKETBALL HISTORY
Â
On this day in 2015 the Panthers traveled south to Coffeyville Kansas for a neutral site game vs the Northern-Oklahoma Enid Jets. The Panthers ended the season as one of the top scoring team in the country but on that night they couldn't buy a bucket, shooting 3-23 from long range, 23-67 from the field and an ugly 17-37 from the charity stripe. The Panthers Lost that game 66-74 but quickly turned things around by going 30-6 on the season, winning the Region VI championship and punching its programs first ever birth to the NJCAA National Tournament. #SHOtime

SETTING THE SCENE
The Panthers are coming off a 116-67 win over Missouri Southern State University JV on Nov. 1. Freshman guard
Corbett Kimberlin let the way with 16 points while four other Panthers finished with double digit scoring.Â
Jonathan Breeland Jr. finished with 15 points,
Deonte Hicks dropped in 14 points while
Torey Cargo and
James Taylor finished with 13 points. Other major contributors were Jae-min Yang and
Chol Adup who finished the game in double digit rebounding.
Chol Adup also took 4 charges in the game.
Â
Several of those contributors are new faces to the orange and black as they welcome eleven newcomers, three of which are transfers, two redshirted last season and six of them are true freshmen.
Â
Spotlighting one of the newbies is true freshman guard
Jonathan Breeland Jr. a 6'4 combo guard from Colombia, SC. Jonathan or (JB) prepped last season at Fork Union Military. JB scored 15 points in his opening night as a Panther going 6-10 from the field and shooting 2-4 from deep. JB also chipped in 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.
Â
"I thought for the most part we played a pretty good TEAM game." head coach
Jeremy Coombs said. "JB was a huge part of that and anytime you see a guy score the ball well and go out and get assists you know he's playing as a team player."
Â
SCOUTING HESSTON
Hesston is 2-0 on the season after beating Bethany College JV and On Point Hoops Academy this past weekend. The Larks are averaging 90.5 points per game, while shooting 40.4% from the three-point line.
Â
"This is a well Coach and very disciplined team with some very good talent." Coombs Said. "They shoot the ball very well and play extremely hard. We will need to play extremely smart and do all the little things if we want to win tonight."
