Chanute, Ks. - Five scored in double figures for the Neosho County women's basketball team (7-16 overall, 4-9 KJCCC). as the Panthers hung on to defeat the Cloud County T-Birds (14-9 overall, 7-7 KJCCC), 88-85 Wednesday. "This was a huge conference win for us", Neosho County head coach,
JJ Davis. "When adversity hit late in the fourth, we answered and found a way to come out and win.," Davis said. "I am proud of my team, this is the first time Neosho has beaten Cloud County in a very long time."
The Panther women dominated the floor pouring in a combined 52 points in the first half against Cloud. Neosho had a 11-point lead coming out to start the third and held that lead to end the quarter, 71-60. In the fourth, the T-Birds went on a run with only a minute and a half left in the game getting within 2 of the Panthers, 80-78. Freshman
Jessica Jones hit a big three with about a minute left to play putting the Panthers back up 83-78. With only 6 seconds left to play, Cloud had the chance to force overtime but fell short when T-Bird Emmiley Hendrixson missed the three-point attempt.

Alexis Casher added another double-double with a team high 15 rebounds and 11 points. Freshman

Erica Birch, with 10 points, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
Saturday evening will be a special night at the Panthers Gymnasium, as the Women and Men's teams will be hosting the Allen County Red Devils on Autism Awareness Night. Tip off set for 5:30 P.M.
