Chanute, KS – The Neosho Men's soccer team started the defense of their KJCCC – East conference title with an excellent win over nearby rivals Coffeyville. Two goals from Alexandre Novas and one from Renan Santos were enough to give the Panthers a 3-1 Jayhawk East road win. The Panther's improved to 3-2 (1-0 Jayhawk East) heading into Saturday's Jayhawk East showdown with Kansas City Kansas Community College.
A slow first half as both teams exchanged only a few shots on goal as they went in 0-0 at half time. Neosho started the second half well as Novas scored his third goal of the season only 5 minutes into the second half. The Panthers scored 2 quick goals with only 5 minutes apart on the 61st and 66th minute of the game for the final score of 3-1.
Note – Neosho's next opponents, KCKCC are current Region 6 and Plains District Champions. They started the season ranked #18 in the NJCAA Pre-season National Poll.
