The Neosho County Community College baseball team got back in the win column Tuesday evening with a road sweep of Rockhurst University.
In game one, the Panthers pounded out nine hits in a 3-1 win.
A sacrifice fly by
Aaron Meers in the top of the first gave Neosho County an early 1-0 lead.
Three innings later, Kaleb De La Torre drove in the Panthers second run win an RBI single, but Rockhurst answered in the home half of the fifth.
In the top of the seventh, Neosho County padded its slim lead with the teams third and final run.
De La Torre doubled and later scored on a
Marcus McDaniel single.
De La Torre and
Joe Mondragon went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Panther offense.
Blaine Hanf picked up his second win of the season, going the distance for Neosho County, striking out three, walking none and surrendering only two hits.
In game two, the Panthers scored 10 runs in the top of the first inning en route to a 10-0, run-ruled victory.
In the frame, Neosho County pounded out 10 runs on seven hits, to go along with two Rockhurst errors.
However, the Panthers mustered only two hits over the final four innings of play.
Cruz Aranda,
Nolan Beets and
Kenton Richards collected two hits apiece in the win.
Dalton Weaver earned his third win of the season, pitching four innings, striking out seven, walking one and surrendering one hit.
The Panthers (14-3 overall and 5-3 in the KJCCC) travels to Allen County
(14-4 and 6-2) on Thursday for a 1 pm doubleheader.
