Box Score CHANUTE, KS - Saturday afternoon the Panthers completed the season sweep of Cloud County by winning the game 95-83 at Neosho County Community College.
The Panthers started the game off a little sluggish but finally got things going midway in the first half.
"I thought Cloud had a great game plan of pressing up on us and taking away the three ball." Coach Coombs Said "But what in like even more was how our guys made adjustments and just took what the defense gave us."
In a back and forth battle for 20min the Panthers found a way to take a 36-32 lead into the locker room at the midway point.
After the break the T-Birds came out swinging and just wouldn't go away. In this game of runs there were 5 score ties and 10 lead changes. But free throw shooting and points off turnovers ultimately pushed the Panthers past the T-Birds.
"I thought our guys did a great job playing team defense and doing their jobs." Coombs Said "Our team defense led us to several transition buckets and helped us pull away."
The Panthers capitalized on those turnovers by scoring 16 points off Clouds turnovers to only 3 points by Cloud off Neosho's turnovers.
Late in the second half Neosho finished off the T-Birds by going on an 11-2 run as the Panthers held on for the 95-83 win.
Neosho County will hit the road Wednesday to take on the Pratt Beavers. (Home of Panther freshman Samson Kohman) Tip-off is scheduled for 8 pm.
