Olathe, KS - The Panthers split this weekend up in Olathe at the Johnson County Community College Winter Classic. On Saturday, the Panthers fell in a tough battle to the NJCAA DII #2 Highland Scotties 69-79. The Panthers were led in scoring by
Magic Reliford with 16 points and
James Taylor with 15 points.
On Sunday, the Panthers bounced back against the host team NJCAA DII #11 Johnson County. The Panthers walked away with an 86-75 victory.
Magic Reliford knocked down six three balls and scored 24 points, while Jack Teliaferro chipped in 17 points,
Brian Tolefree added 12 points and
James Taylor scored 10 points.
"I was a little disappointed we didn't take two wins into the break, but with the caliber of teams we have been playing, I think we are moving in the right direction." said Head Coach
Jeremy Coombs "Now the guys have 11 days off, so I'm glad we went into the break with a win."
The Panthers head into the break 9-5 and 2-2 in conference play. The Panthers will be back in action January 2nd, as they travel to Goodland Kansas to take on Northwest Tech. Tip-off is set for 5:00 pm. The Panthers will return home January 5th and host the Pratt Beavers.
