Hesston, KS—The Neosho County women's basketball team notched their third win of the season with an 85-73 road victory over Hesston Community College.
The Panthers started strong, with a 28-15 lead after the first period of play. The Larks went on a run in the second period and outscored the Panthers 18-10, making the score 38-25 at the half. The third period was back and forth with each team scoring 22 points, making the score 60-47. Neosho stayed the course, winning the fourth period 25-18 to clinch the victory.
Sophomore
Erica Birch had a career-high 26 points to lead the Panthers in scoring. Sophomore guard
Calea Augustin was second in points for the Panthers with 19 points. Sophomore
Alexis Casher earned her second double-double of the season with 10 points and a team high of 12 rebounds. Redshirt Freshman
Kelcey Hinz contributed 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 6 points for the game. As a team, Neosho shot at 33 percent from the field, 26 percent beyond the arc and 51.5 percent at the line. The Panthers out-rebounded the Larks 53-27.
The Neosho women's basketball will travel to Overland Park, KS this weekend to take on Johnson County, Friday, November 16 at 5:30 p.m. The Panthers will also face Trinity Valley on Saturday, November 17 at 4:00 p.m.
