Fort Scott KS – On day two of the Gladbach Classic, the Panthers took down the host team, Fort Scott Community College 86-80. In just their second road game of the season, the Panthers picked up a win despite the loud Fort Scott home crowd. "It's a tough place to play." Coombs said, "The fans and students are right there and the gym echos, so it can get pretty darn loud. Plus, this was our first taste of life on the road."
The Panthers stormed out to a commanding lead in the first half and went into locker room at the half leading Fort Scott by 26 points. "I wasn't really excited about being up 26," Coombs said "It's hard to get guys to focus and play two halves under those circumstances. Plus, I knew Fort Scott wasn't going away that easy."
As expected, the Greyhounds came out fighting and the Panthers could not find a consistent answer to slow them down. Fort Scott chipped away at the Neosho lead, but the Panthers found a way to make big plays down the stretch and pulled off the 86-80 victory. "I feel like we figured some things out as a team, so hopefully later on down the road when faced with adversity, like tonight's game, we will know how to respond," Coombs said. "We have another tough task Tuesday, as we head to Hesston College. They are always dangerous at their place."
