Hesston, KS – The Neosho County men's basketball team earned a 79-64 road victory over Hesston College Tuesday night. The Panthers (4-2) won their second straight road game of the season.
The Hesston Larks jumped out to an early 8-3 lead, but that lead was erased quickly by a 12-2 run by the Panthers. Neosho was led by freshman guard Magic Reliford, who racked up his third 20 plus point game of the season with 21 points. Magic went 5-of-9 from three and 2-for-2 from the charity stripe. Freshman small forward, Jamin Yang netted 12 points, while redshirt freshman guard Brian Tolefree and sophomore guard Jay McMiller added 11 points each. A fast-break dunk from Brian Tolefree just three minutes into the second half sparked an 11-0 run by the Panthers, which gave Neosho its largest lead of the night, 47-28.
Neosho shot 43.8 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from behind the 3-point line and 76.5 percent (13-for-17) at the free-throw line.The Hesston Larks shot 29.8 percent overall, 32 percent from behind the 3-point line and 88 percent (22-for-25) at the charity stripe. The Panthers out-rebounded the Larks (35-32), but the Larks led in assists (19-6). With the win over Hesston, the Panthers have now won 4 out of their last 5 games.
The Panthers will return home this Friday night at 7:30 pm, as they play host to Friends University JV.
