Saturday the Panthers hosted Garden City in their first home game of the second semester. The Panthers came out and made a point to attack the paint and get to the free throw line. This strategy worked for the Panthers as they shot 13 for 21 from the charity stripe, and found themselves with a nine point advantage at the half. The second half, especially the third quarter, has been a struggle for the Panthers so far this season. This is when opponents normally come back and take games from the Panthers. Saturday would show a similar event as Garden City would out score the Panthers in both the third and fourth quarters. Garden City would take a late lead but the Panthers would not go away as they would force overtime. In the extra period the Panthers would continue to attack the paint and get to the free throw and this would be the difference. The Panthers would shoot 36 free throws in the second half and overtime. The Panthers would out score Garden City 17 to 7 in the extra session and earn an 87-77 victory.
