The Neosho County Women's basketball team(7-6,1-4) hosted the first game of the second half of the season against the visiting Broncbusters(10-6,4-1). This Jayhawk conference game would inevitably turn into a heated back and forth matchup that would come down a few late key moments.
After the first quarter, the panthers had an early lead of 11-6. Though Garden would take ahold of the lead and keep it for the rest of the half. Top scorers for Neosho in the first half were
Makayla Bell,
Ki'Asha Harris, and
Kascity Martin. Â After the half the Broncbusters would lead 26-24.
Â
               Coming in the 3
rd quarter after the half, the panther's Kiasha Harris helped regained momentum with tieing the game up 26 all just 30 seconds into the quarter. This would begin what would be a back and forth 2
nd half that saw 9 lead changes, and 9 times the scoreboard register even from both teams. A heated controversy over elbows thrown from Gardens Darae Lewis would end up with her being hit with a flagrant technical violation. Though caught in the mix and also being hit with a technical was
Makayla Bell, and unfortunately would be the last of we saw of the panther for the game. With the pressure all on her, Neosho's
Brooke Neal would step to the foul line from the flagrant foul from Lewis down by 2. Though she still managed to make both of her shots drop down and tie the game 55 all with just 15 seconds left. Though it wouldn't be able to be held long as Garden city hit a go ahead shot with 8 seconds left. The Panthers would be able to get one more desperation shot off though there would be no more late game magic as the game ended 57-55.
Kascity Martin was the score leader with 15, followed by Makayla bell and
Jhanai Felix with 10. The Lady panthers next contest will be a road game at Seward County Community College(10-2,3-1) on Wednesday the 6
th.
