Panthers win in 2OT to start off 2016

Chanute, KS - The Neosho County Panthers would start off 2016 with a double overtime win against the Garden City Community College Broncbusters. The Panthers would trail at halftime by a score of 36-34. Coming out in the second half the Panthers would get off to a slow start, getting down 12 points in the game. But they would turn on the pressure and fight back by forcing turnovers and attacking the basket. Freddie McSwain would lead all scorers in the contest with 24 points and 13 rebounds followed by Richard Granberry with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Jalen Jackson would also score 18 points, grab 5 rebounds, and dish out 4 assists in the game.

After getting a crucial stop at the end of regulation the game would head in to extra periods. With no team gaining an advantage in the first overtime we would need a second to determine the winner. The Broncbusters would start off strong and hit some 3's early to put some pressure on the Panthers. But the Runnin' Panthers would relentlessly attack the basket, get fouled, and make free throws to battle back. Freddie McSwain would make the go ahead basket late in the period. The Panthers would get the defensive stop and the Broncbusters would be forced to foul. Jalen Jackson would fo 8/8 in the game from the free throw line. Hitting 4 straight to secure the victory.

The Panthers will travel to Liberal KS on Wednesday January 6 to take on the Seward County Saints.
