The Neosho County volleyball team fell in the opening round of the NJCAA Division II District M Tournament to the top-seeded and tournament hosts Johnson County Cavaliers 3-1 Saturday morning.
The Panthers won the first set 25-23, but Johnson County scored three straight set victories to put away the visitors 25-23, 27-25 and 25-16.
Sophomore Jill Starling ended her Panther career by leading Neosho County with 12 kills. Sophomore Mackenzie Brown tallied eight, and freshman Riley McGinn had seven. Freshman Haley Slade led the team with a 20 assists, while Starling had 15.
Defensively, freshman Taryn Strobel had 34 digs, while McGinn and Brown led two blocks each.
The Panther season came to a close with a 24-14 record.
