The Neosho County Community College volleyball team went 4-0 at the Panther Invite Friday and Saturday.
After beating conference foe Labette Community College 3-0 Friday afternoon, the panthers defeated previously ranked Iowa Central Community College 3-1 (25-16, 19-25, 25-14, 25-18) in the night cap.
Sophomore
Jill Starling led Neosho County with 20 kills, while freshman
Rianne Richard and
Jessie Roukema recorded seven each. Starling also tallied a team-high 21 set assists, while freshman
Haley Slade added 16.
Defensively, freshman
Taryn Strobel had a team-high 27 digs, while Richard added 17. Freshman
Riley McGinn led the team with 5 blocks.
The next day, the Panthers opened Saturday with a 3-0 victory, breezing past Ottawa University JV 25-11, 25-10, 25-20.
Freshman
Sabrina Ebarb was the only Panther to record double-figure kills with 10. Freshman
Jessica Nentrup added nine.
In the final game of the tournament, Neosho County defeated rival Allen County 3-2 (25-16, 25-27, 26-14, 22-25 and 16-14).
The sophomore duo of
Mackenzie Brown and Starling led the team with 14 kills and McGinn added 13.
McGinn also recorded three blocks. Strobel recorded a team-high 35 digs.
The Panthers (19-8 ovreall and 3-4 in the KJCCC) will return to action Wednesday on the road in Coffeyville (18-7 and 4-2) at 6:30pm.
