No. 7 KCK Overpowers Neosho

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Looking for their first conference win of the season the Neosho Panthers faced a tall task Saturday afternoon when they traveled to No. 8 Kansas City Kansas Community College. The Blue Devils forced Neosho into 28 turnovers and held the Panthers to just 27% from the floor en route to an 89-39 win.

The Panthers drop their sixth straight as their struggles in the second semester continue. Saturday was the second consecutive game Neosho was held below 30% from the field after a season low 16% in a loss at Fort Scott on Wednesday. The Blue Devils lead the conference averaging 17 steals per game and forced Neosho into 28 turnovers including 24 steals.

The Neosho offense that has been struggling lately went more than six minutes to start the ballgame before they scored. The Blue Devils opened a 25-3 eight minutes left in the first half and outscored the Panthers 49-20 in the opening half.

The second half was much of the same as KCK outscored Neosho 40-19.

Morgan Finley led the Panthers with nine points off the bench in just 9 minutes of play. Finley connected on 3-5 from the field and 1-1 from beyond the arc. Hailey Mayfield grabbed a team high 8 rebounds and Autumn Lipscomb 7 boards in the loss.

Neosho will look to stop the skid on the final game of their three game road trip Wednesday when they travel to Coffeyville. The Ravens (14-8, 4-1 KJCCC) are currently in third place in the conference standings. They trail Johnson County by a game for first place and are just a half game behind KCK in second.
