Panthers Slide Continues with Loss at Coffeyville

COFFEYVILLE, Kan. – Looking to snap their six game losing streak the Panthers ran into a buzz saw Wednesday night as Coffeyville (15-8, 5-1) shot 59% from the floor and better than 50% from the 3-point line as they handed the Panthers their seventh straight loss 109-54.
                       
It was the Panthers third straight road game and second in a row against teams in the top three in the Jayhawk East standings. While Coffeyville was red hot from the field, the Panthers shooting woes continues as they were held to just 32% from the floor. It was the fifth straight game the Panthers were held below their season average for shooting percentage.
 
Coffeyville forced Neosho into 26 turnovers which they converted into 31 points. The Ravens were also deadly inside and outside as they outscored Neosho 56-24 in the paint and 30-18 from beyond the 3-point line.
 
Coffeyville jumped out to a 24-4 lead in the first 8 minutes and never looked back. The Panthers, looking to fight their way back into the ballgame trailed 35-15 with 5:49 to play before Coffeyville went on a 31-5 run over the remainder of the half and the first 3:22 of the second half. The Ravens didn't allow a field goal over more than six minutes during the run.
 
Olivia Uhrich led the Panthers with 16 points including 4 made 3-pointers in the loss. Denise Levine added 11 points as the only other Panther to reach double figures.
 
Things will not get any easier as the Panthers will face their third ranked opponent in their last 5 games. Neosho hosts Division II No. 10 Highland Community College (18-3, 3-3) Saturday. The Scotties come into the game on a 2 game losing streak and have dropped three of their last four games.
