NEO’s Overtime Goal Sinks Panthers

Morgan Rabe scored a pair of goals in Neosho's 3-2 overtime loss to NEO.
Box Score CHANUTE, Kan- The Neosho Panthers outshot NEO A&M 23-12 and 9-7 on shots on goal, but an NEO goal late in regulation and another in overtime lifted them past the Panthers despite a two goal game from Morgan Rabe.
 
At the opening whistle, NEO surged forward with a continuing attack, gaining a goal in the fourth minute. Moving forward, Neosho County began to shift momentum as NEO backed onto their heels.  A quick fast break by NEO came in the thirtieth minute, but was run down by Neosho's Alexis Williams.
 
The Panthers would remain aggressive through the end of the half, but would not get the equalizer. The score would remain Nil-1.
 
In the opening minutes of the half, the Panthers stayed offensive. Through 50 minutes, Neosho outshot NEO 12-4, but lacked the production to show for it. The score remained 1-nil until the 59th minute, when Neosho's Morgan Rabe would score off of a corner kick. It was Rabe's first goal of the season.  
 
In the 85th minute, after several failed offensive strikes, the goal to gain advantage came. After Haylie Kinzey's shot was deflected by the NEO keeper, Morgan Rabe was again able to knock it in for her first career multi-goal game.
 
The goal would not be the last. In the 87th minute, NEO's Jennifer Cudjoe drew a foul and scored the equalizer from nearly 40 yards out on the ensuing free kick, sending the match into overtime.
 
The golden goal overtime would go to NEO, in the one hundredth minute as Cudjoe once again found the back of the net for the game winner.
 
The Panthers lose the match 3-2, and fall to 2-2-0 on the season. The women will head on the road for the first time this season as they open Jayhawk Conference play when they travel to Garden City on September 12 followed by a match at Pratt on the 13th. Their next match at home will be September 20 when they host Cowley College.
