Neosho earned a hard-fought 3-1 victory on the road against Allen, powered by an outstanding three-goal performance from
Katie Smart.
After a competitive and scoreless opening 45 minutes, the team came out with renewed energy and determination in the second half. Smart opened the scoring after the break, putting the team in front and setting the tone for an exciting second half.
Allen responded with an equalizer, and the match remained tied 1-1 for approximately 5 minutes. Rather than letting the momentum shift, the team continued to push forward and remained composed. Smart came through once again, finding the back of the net for her second goal of the afternoon and restoring the team's lead.
With momentum on our side, the Panthers continued to attack while staying organized defensively. Smart completed her outstanding performance by scoring her third goal of the match, completing the hattrick and giving the team a two-goal cushion.
The result showcased the team's ability to stay composed through a tight match and respond when the game was level. After a scoreless first half and a 1-1 deadlock that lasted for 5 minutes, the team found another gear and scored twice to close out the road victory.
The Panthers will return home for its next contest, hosting Johnson County on Saturday October 3rd, at 2 p.m. After a strong road performance at Allen, the team will look to carry that momentum into its home matchup.
