Panthers Notch Second Straight Conference Road Win

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Eliany Parra recorded her first career hat trick as Neosho picked up their second straight road win in Jayhawk Conference play with a 6-1 victory over Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Parra scored the Panthers first goal of the match in the 33rd minute to put them on top 1-nil. The lead would be short lived however as the Blue Devils would respond with a goal of their own only six minutes later.

The score would remain knotted at 1 until the 57th minute when Melissa Canchola scored her first career goal which was assisted by her sister Marlene Canchola.

Danielle McClure's third goal of the season would come in the 68th minute and extended the Panthers lead to 3-1. Parra would tack on her second of the night in the 77th minute as Neosho began to pull away and a storm rolled in.

Late in the second half a lightening delay would force the teams off the field for 30 minutes with the Panthers leading 4-1. When they returned to action Taylor Hughes scored her first goal of the season in the 87th minute. Less than a minute later Parra would find the back of the night for the third time to ice the win for the Panthers.

It is the second time in as many games that the Panthers have had a player record a hat trick after Haylie Kinzey scored four goals in the Panthers 8-0 win over Cowley earlier in the week.

Raysha Claibourn returned to the net for the Panthers after missing the previous three games after suffering a concussion against Garden City. Claibourn stopped eight shots to earn her third win of the season.

The Panthers will host No. 14 Butler Community College Sunday afternoon. Kickoff for the match is set for 3:00pm.
