Box Score 2 Not much went right for Neosho County on Friday. The Panthers were swept in their regular season home finale doubleheader by Fort Scott 3-2 and 7-5. Both games went to extra innings and both games Neosho blew leads late.
The first game saw Fort Scott jump out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The score would stay 1-0 until the Panthers got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning. Back to back to back doubles from

Craig Johnson, and
Tyler Sutherland gave the Panthers the lead 2-1 after six complete innings. Fort Scott would answer in the top of the 7th, scratching one run across to tie the game at 2. Fort Scott scored again in the top of the eighth and closer Matt Peterson retired Neosho in order to pick up the win.
Matt Slauter threw 7 innings, giving up 2 earned runs and struck out 3. Johnson and Sutherland picked up the lone RBI's for the Panthers.
Neosho built a 5-1 lead after five complete innings in the second game, but couldn't hold it. In the top of the sixth inning, Greyhound's Lance Barkley hit a 3-run homer to tie the game at 5. The Panthers threatened in the 7th and the 8th inning, but couldn't push anything across. In the top of the 9th inning, Fort Scott pushed 2 runs across to take a 7-5 lead. Closer Matt Peterson retired Neosho again and the Greyhounds held on to win.
Nathan Whitcomb took the loss for the Panthers, while
Craig Johnson led the offensive attack going 2-5 with a double and 2 RBI's.
Neosho takes to the road on Saturday and plays the second conference doubleheader at Fort Scott. The games begin at 1:00 P.M.
