Box Score On a day where offense was at a premium, and pitching ruled, the Neosho County baseball team came up short. In a game that felt like a playoff atmosphere for most of the day, the #5 Panthers were shutout by #11 Crowder College 4-0 at Hudson Field in Chanute.
Neosho starter
Nathan Whitcomb was brilliant, surrending just one earned run in seven strong innings. He was the tough luck loser in the contest as Crowder starter Sam Hilliard threw a complete game shutout, striking out 7 Panther batters and keeping them off balance for most of the day.
Tyler Sutherland was the lone bright spot for Neosho, going 2-3 with a double in the losing effort. Crowder scored 1 in the second, 1 in the seventh, and 2 in the ninth to finish the game 4-0.
The Panthers begin a huge conference weekend on Thursday, heading to Coffeyville for the first double header in the four game set. The games begin at 1:00 P.M.
