Panthers Complete Series Sweep Against Allen

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Saturday was Panther baseball's annual "Game on for a Cure."  Under perfect weather conditions, and a big crowd at Hudson Field, Neosho didn't disappoint.  They were able to dispose of Allen 12-2 and 11-1 to complete the four game conference sweep.
The first game saw Neosho jump out to an early 7-1 lead after two complete innings.  The scoring outburst was highlighted by a 3 run home run by sophomore Dylan Christie.  The Panthers would again tack on in the bottom of the fourth with a five run inning that extended the lead to 12-1.  Designated hitter Connor Dawson hit a grand slam in the inning to put the run rule in effect, and starting pitcher Casey Quinlan was able to slam the door in the top of the 5th to invoke the run rule.  Quinlan improved his record to 6-2 on the year in the complete game effort.  Dawson finished 2-3 with a double and a grand slam, driving in 4 runs.  Christie drove in 3 runs and sophomore Andy Young drove in two runs as well.
The second game began very similarly to the first game.  Neosho scored 1 in the first, 3 in the second, 1 in the third, and 1 in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.  After Allen cut the lead to 6-1, Neosho scored 2 in the bottom of the sixth and 3 in the bottom of the eighth to invoke the run rule and end the game 11-1.  Tyler Sutherland hit a solo home run, and Dylan Christie hit a walkoff 2 RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning.  Andy Young drove in 3 more runs in the second game, and Justin Warne added 2 hits and 2 RBI's.  Jake Johnson got the win on the mound for the Panthers, throwing 8 innings and giving up no earned runs.
Neosho takes to the field again on Tuesday as they play host to #13 Crowder College at Hudson Field in Chanute.  The single 9 inning game will begin at 2:00 P.M.
