Box Score 2 Neosho went on the road to Highland for a conference doubleheader, but a slow start plagued the Panthers as they were forced to settle for a split, losing the first game 6-3 and winning the second game 16-3.
The first game saw Neosho come out sluggish, falling behind 4-1 after 3 complete innings. The Panthers would fight back thanks to back to back homers from
Connor Goedert and
Andy Young to pull the score to 4-3. Highland would again tack on in the bottom of the sixth, stretching the lead to 6-3. The Scotties would hold on in the seventh to win 6-3.
Casey Quinlan took the loss on the mound for the Panthers.
Connor Goedert led Neosho going 2-2 with 2 RBI's and
Andy Young tacked on one RBI as well.
Game two saw the Panthers jump out to a 13-1 lead after four complete innings. Neosho would tack on again in the fifth and sixth inning and won the game 16-3.
Shane Hummel upped his record to 7-0 on the year, giving up one earned run in six strong innings.
Connor Goedert had a monster game offensively, hitting 2 more home runs and driving in 6 runs.
Justin Warne hit a 3 run homer and
Spencer Ibarra added 3 RBI's as well.
Neosho takes to the field again on Thursday at Cowley County Community College. The conference doubleheader is in Arkansas City, Kansas and begins at 2:00 P.M.
