Box Score 2 After being swept on Thursday, Neosho tried to get back on track. On Saturday, they did just that, sweeping Johnson County 3-2 and 12-0 to split the season series with the Cavaliers 2-2.
The first game was a pitchers duel through 3 innings. Johnson got on the board first after a 2 out 2 RBI single from DH Zach Isham. Neosho answered in the top of the 6th, with
Dylan Christie driving in
Andy Young to close the gap to 2-1. The Panthers would again rally in the top of the 7th, starting with a double from
Spencer Ibarra. Captain
Colton Crocker drove him home with a single to tie the game at 2. After a
Tyler Sutherland single put runners on the corners, a
Connor Goedert RBI single put the Panthers in the lead 3-2. Neosho starter
Casey Quinlan sat the Cavaliers down in order in the bottom of the 7th to end the game. Quinlan threw a complete game, giving up no earned runs and scattering three hits.
Tyler Sutherland and
Andy Young each had 2 hits for the offense.
Neosho got the offense going early in the second game, plating 2 runs in the first, 2 in the third, 1 in the fourth, 5 in the fifth, and 2 in the seventh. Panther starter
Shane Hummel was phenomenal again, throwing a complete game shutout to push his record to a perfect 6-0. Hummel only allowed 5 hits in the run rule shortened contest.
Colton Crocker drove in 3 runs and
Craig Johnson and
Connor Goedert drove in 2 in the offensive outburst.
Neosho takes the field again on Thursday as they host Highland in a conference tilt. The doubleheader begins at 1:00 P.M. in Chanute at Hudson Field.
