Box Score 2 Not much went right for Neosho on Thursday at Hudson Field. The Panthers started slow and never recovered, dropping both games of the doubleheader against Johnson County 14-3 and 14-7.
Neosho fell behind big early in the first game, trailing 11-2 after 4 complete innings. Panther starter
Jake Johnson couldn't get it going all day, and took the loss on the mound. Neosho's offensive attack was held to 5 hits, but
Dylan Christie was the lone bright spot. The sophomore went 2 for 3 with a double and a home run while driving in all 3 runs scored in the game.
The second game saw the Panthers build a 7-3 lead after six innings thanks to a 2 run home run by
Andy Young and a 2 RBI double from
Connor Goedert. After closing the game 7-6 after the seventh inning, Johnson blew the game open in the top of the eighth plating 6 runs and taking a 12-7 lead. They would tack on 2 more in the top of the ninth to stretch the lead 14-7.
Matt Slauter started and thre 5.2 innings, getting the no decision after giving up 3 earned runs.
Tyler Sutherland led the charge for the offense, going 3 for 3 with a home run and a double which drove in 2 runs. Goedert and Young added 2 RBI's as well.
Neosho heads on the road on Saturday to face Johnson County in the second half of the four game conference slate. The games start at 1:00 P.M. in Overland Park, Kansas.
