Panthers Split with North Central Missouri

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Neosho County baseball team took the field again on Thursday, trying to build some momentum going into conference play.  The Panthers had to settle for a split however, losing the first game 19-8 and rebounding to win the second game 20-7.
In the first game, Neosho capitalized on two Pirate errors to take an early 8-2 lead.  In the top of the fifth inning, the flood gates opened and a combination of five Panther pitchers gave up 14 runs.  North Central Missouri tacked on 3 runs in the top of the 6th inning and held on in the bottom half to invoke the run rule.  Tony Lane took the loss on the hill for Neosho.  
The second game saw Neosho jump out to a big lead plating 4 in the first, 4 in the second, and 10 in the third.  Connor Goedert led the charge offensively, going 3 for 4 with two doubles, a triple, and 4 RBI's.  Brady Childs added 2 hits and 3 RBI's for the Panthers.  Craig Johnson, Justin Warne, Andy Young, and Spencer Ibarra each drove in 2 runs as well.  Nathan Whitcomb got the win on the mound for Neosho in the complete game effort.
The Panthers take the field again on Saturday and Sunday against Brown Mackie College at Hudson Field.  The doubleheaders begin at 1:00 P.M.
