Box Score Neosho knew that to win at the Region VI Championship tournament they would have to put all facets of their game together. Neosho put timely hitting, superb fielding, and a complete game effort by ace
Chance Sinclair together to beat Fort Scott 4-2 in the opening round game.
Fort Scott began the scoring in the bottom of the 4th inning, getting 2 runs off Sinclair on a 2 run triple by Josh Griffith with 2 outs. The score would remain that way until the top of the 6th, when the Panther offense came to life.
Jake O'Brien led off the top of the 6th with a single, but was gunned down at second on a sacrifice bunt attempt by
Colby Smith. Catcher
Craig Johnson followed with a double that moved runners to 2nd and 3rd with only one out.
Bobby Wernes drove home Smith with an RBI single, and
Colton Crocker came up with a huge 2 out base hit that scored two more to put Neosho ahead 3-2.
Dylan Christie tacked on a solo home run in the 8th, and that would be plenty for Sinclair. Sinclair scattered 6 hits in the contest, and struck out 10 Greyhounds to earn the victory.
Neosho takes the field in the second round of the Region VI Championship tournament tomorrow a 4:00 P.M. at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium against the KCK Blue Devils. The Panthers split the season series with the Blue Devils 2-2.
