Box Score Neosho knew that they had to throw well in order to beat the #6 team in the country. The offense showed up, but the pitching didn't in a 22-12 loss for Neosho at Crowder College.
Neosho jumped out early with a 2-0 lead in the first inning off a 2 run blast by
Connor Goedert. Crowder answered by scoring 4 of their own in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-3 lead. The Roughriders and Panthers continued to trade blows, as Neosho cut the deficit to 4-3 after 2 innings of play. From there, Crowder took control, scoring 5 in the 3rd, and 4 in the 4th, extending their lead to 13-3. Neosho answered with an 8 run 5th to cut the lead to 13-11, but the Roughrider offense proved too much as they eventually won 22-12 in 8 innings. Neosho was led offensively by Connor Goeder who hit 2 towering homers and drove in 5 runs,
Robbe Ewing who drove in 3 runs, and
Justin Warne who drove in 2 runs.
Jon Furlong took the loss for the Panthers.
Neosho takes the field again in the Regional playoffs at Dodge City Community College starting on Saturday. The games will begin at 2:00 P.M. and start a best 2 out of 3 series.
