Box Score 2 As has become the custom this spring, Neosho played another day in cold temperatures and overcast skies. With the temperature never reaching 50 and clouds that brought rain to the area hovering overhead, the Panthers were able to sweep Brown Mackie 10-0 and 7-1.
The first game saw the Panthers offense spread their scoring out through each inning except for the 1st. Neosho put up 1 in the 2nd and 3rd, 2 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th, and 5 in the 6th to complete the run rule 10-0. Starter
Jon Furlong pitched brilliantly, giving up only 1 hit in 4 innings.
Jake Johnson relieved him and finished the game with 2 scoreless frames of his own. The Panther offensive onslaught was led by
Jake O'Brien who went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI's and sophomore captain
Robbe Ewing who went 4 for 5 with 2 RBI's.
The second game saw the Lions jump out to an early 1-0 lead after plating a run in the top half of the 2nd inning. Starting pitcher
Josh Merrill hit Emanuel Sanchez with 1 out, then moved him to second after a failed pick off attempt moved him to second. From that point on, the game was a pitchers duel until the 5th. The Panther offense came to life and scored 2 in the 5th and 5 in the 6th to finish the game two victory 7-1. Neosho was led offensively by
Robbe Ewing who went 3-3 and freshman
Justin Warne who went 2 for 3 and had 4 RBI's.
Neosho takes the field again on Saturday, starting a streak of 8 games in 4 days. The Panthers play Highland in Conference action in the annual Cancer Awareness game on Saturday, and take the field Sunday for Multi-Generational Day. Both days start at 1:00 P,M. at Hudson Field.
