Panthers Sweep Allen In Conference Action

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Neosho County baseball team knew that to have any chance of hosting in the playoffs, they needed a sweep this weekend.  The Panthers accomplished the first half of their goal, winning game one against Allen Community College 6-0 and game two 9-3.

A day after Neosho starter Chance Sinclair committed to Nebraska, he set the tone for the day by throwing a complete game shutout in game one of the double header.  He surrendered just 3 hits, and only one Red Devil made it to 2nd base.  He struck out 5, and din't allow a free pass.  Neosho got on the board offensively in the top of the 1st inning on an RBI ground out by Dylan Christie.  The bats went cold until the 4th, where the Panthers pushed 3 runs across.  Neosho added 2 in the 5th to make the score 6-0.

Game two saw Neosho and Allen stay scoreless until the 4th inning.  In the top of the 4th, the Panthers struck first by scoring 4 runs, all with 2 outs, to take a 4-0 lead.  Allen countered in the bottom half of the frame with 2 runs of their own, chasing Neosho starter Cody Hutchinson.  Each team scored one in the 5th to make the score 5-3, where it would stay until Neosho tacked on 4 more in the top of the 7th inning to make the score 9-3.  Neosho was led offensively by Dalton Thompson who had 3 RBI's, and Robbe Ewing who had 2 RBI's.

Neosho takes the field again tomorrow in a pivotal day two of conference action.  The games will begin at 2:00 P.M. and will be played at Allen Community College in Iola.
