Box Score The sun may not have been shining at Hudson Field today, but the Panthers sure weren't affected by the constant mist and below 50's temperature. Neosho was able to make quick work of the #1 team in the nation Crowder College, defeating them by a score of 11-0 in a game shortened by the run rule.
Neosho starting pitcher
Jeremy Mansur found himself in a bases loaded jam with no outs in the first inning, but was able to get out of the inning unscathed. The Roughriders loaded the bases with no outs, but Mansur induced 2 fly ball outs, the second of which saw Roughrider lead off man Cody Althouse get gunned down attempting to score on a sacrifice fly by center fielder
Colton Crocker. Mansur cruised until the 5th, when
Jon Furlong relieved him to get the final 3 outs of the game. The pitching duo surrendered only 2 total hits in the shutout win. The Neosho offense exploded in the 3rd, scoring 8 runs on 4 hits. The Panthers added on 3 more in the 4th to take the lead 11-0, where Furlong shut the door to end the game. Neosho was led offensively by
Bobby Wernes, who had 2 hits and 3 RBI's, and
Colton Crocker who added 2 RBI's of his own.
The Panthers next game is Thursday at Hudson Field in Chanute. Neosho will take on Baker University in a double header, and the games will begin at 1:00 P.M.
