Box Score 4 Neosho began it's 3 week conference road trip this past weekend traveling to Cowley College. The Panthers didn't get the start they were looking for, as they were swept in the 4 game series. Neosho lost 1-0 and 11-1 on Saturday, and 13-3 and 10-2 on Sunday.
The first game saw an unbelievable pitchers duel. Panther Starter
Chance Sinclair was masterful, allowing 1 run on only 3 hits in the complete game effort. The Neosho offense was held scoreless in the contest by Cowley ace Mark Meadors, who picked up the win surrending 4 hits. The Panthers were led offensively by
Colby Smith and
Jake O'Brien, each of whom had a hit and a walk.
The second game also had the makings of a pitchers duel, at least in the beginning. Both teams were held scoreless through the first 3 innings, but Cowley broke through with 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th. Neosho answered with their only run of the game on an RBI double by
Connor Goedert in the top of the 5th. Cowley blew the game open in the 5th as they scored 6 runs, and tacked on 2 more in the 6th to invoke the run rule. Goedert had 2 doubles in the contest to lead the Panthers offensively.
Game one on Sunday saw Cowley jump out to a 10-0 lead after the first inning. Neosho answered with 1 in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd to pull the score within 10-3. Cowley scored 3 more in the 5th to put the run rule in effect at 13-3. The Panthers were led offensively by
Dylan Christie who hit 2 home runs and had all 3 RBI's for the Neosho.
Game two on Sunday again saw Neosho spot Cowley runs in the 1st inning. This time, the Tigers pushed across 4 run to take an early 4-0 lead after the 1st inning. The Panthers answered with a run of their own in the 2nd after a
Justin Warne single scored
Jake O'Brien from second base. Cowley added 3 runs in the 4th, but Neosho was able to push 1 more run across in the top of the 6th inning on a home run from
Connor Goedert. Cowley scored 3 more in the 6th and closed the game out for a 10-2 victory.
Neosho plays again on Tuesday at Hudson Field. The Panthers will take on the #1 team in the country in Crowder College. The games start at 2:00 P.M.
