Panthers Split with Seminole

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Neosho baseball team has gotten used to traveling to play games.  The Panthers finished up their 14 game road trip with a split against Seminole State, losing the first game 7-3 and winning the second game 9-2.  The games were played at Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma.

In the first game, Seminole got on the board early and often.  They scored 1 in the first, and thanks to 2 costly errors, put up 4 in the second.  This chased Panther starter Jeremy Mansur, who was unable to settle in on a sunny day at the ballpark.  Brett Mitchell came into the game in relied and pitched brilliantly, giving up 2 runs in 4.2 innings of work.  The Neosho offense came to life in the fifth and sixth, with home runs by Craig Johnson and Connor Goedert.  The Panthers again threatened in the 7th, down 7-3 and had runners on 2nd and 3rd base.  The rally faltered and Neosho lost 7-3.

The second game saw the Panthers score early and often.  Neosho scored 2 in the first, thanks to an RBI double from Connor Goedert and a sac fly from Colby Smith.  The Trojans answered with 2 of their own in the bottom half of the first inning.  Panther relievers Jake O'Brien and Dylan Christie held Seminole scoreless for the rest of the game, and the offense did its part scoring in every inning except the 2nd and 7th.  O'Brien, Christie and Ewing also added RBI's for Neosho offensively.  Dylan Christie threw a scoreless 7th, and the Panthers were victorious 9-2.

Neosho takes the field again on Friday and Saturday in conference action against Johnson County Community College.  Both days the games start at 1:00 P.M. and will be played at Hudson Field.
