Panthers sink Pirates in 3

The Neosho Panthers picked up a conference win Wednesday night when they took down the Independence Pirates in straight sets. The Panthers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back taking the first set 25-10 before cruising to the win taking the next two sets 25-13, 25-13.
 
Offensively the Panthers were once again led by Yuleika Jimenez who racked up 13 kills and an ace. Sophomore Haley Miller also tallied 13 kills with an impressive .500 hitting percentage. Middle blocker Mollie Ravnikar chipped in a season high five kills on only 7 chances to go with her 4.5 blocks.
 
Katie Jensen led the way defensively for the Panthers as she racked up 14 digs while Whitney Gifford added 11.
 
The Panthers are now 8-7 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. They are back in action Friday when the travel to Iola, Kansas for the Allen County Community College Invitational. The tournament will be played at the Riverside Park Community Building in Iola. They will take on #17 ranked Fort Scott Community College at 2:00pm followed by a match against Dodge City Community College at 4:00pm. Saturday they will face Southeast Nebraska Community College and Labette Community College to wrap up the tournament.
