The Neosho County Volleyball team's season gets underway this weekend with a couple of firsts. The Panthers will be hosting the First Annual Neosho County Invitational Volleyball Tournament with teams from as far as Iowa coming to town for the event. Games will begin on Friday with the Panthers hosting Allen Community College at 3:00 pm. The tournament will wrap up Saturday afternoon when the Panthers play Coffeyville Community College at 2:00pm.
The Panthers will also be the first team to play a game in the newly renovated Neosho County Gymnasium. Over the summer a new gym floor, bleachers, and sprinkler system were installed. In addition the locker rooms were remodeled including new showers and bathrooms. The bathroom's in the Penner Lounge were also given a facelift as all new energy efficient fixtures were added.
“We are very excited to open our season in front of our home crowd, especially with a new facility to show off. Everyone on campus has put a huge amount of work into having the building ready for our even this weekend and we are extremely thankful,” said head coach
Asya Herron.
In addition to their 3:00 game the Panthers will also play at 7:00 pm against Marshalltown Community College. They will be back in action Saturday with games at 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
