The Neosho Panthers got a run in the first to take a 1-0 lead over Coffeyville Community College when
Robbe Ewing singled to score
David Bote who led the game off with a single. Coffeyville starting pitcher Cole Webb would settle in after a rocky first and would not allow a run over the next 10 innings.
Adam Giacalone would pitch with a lead for the first four innings before running into trouble in the fifth. After a groundout to start the inning, Coffeyville would string together three straight singles to plate a run and tie the game at 1.
Giacalone would regroup and not allow another run over his next seven innings of work stranding the winning run at third in the bottom of the twelfth inning. He worked 12.0 innings on the day allowing eight hits without allowing a walk while recording six strikeouts.
The teams headed to the top of the thirteenth inning still tied at 1 when
Nick Feighner led the inning off with a walk.
Kas Sanders sacrifice bunt would move Feighner into scoring position.
Jordan Miller would follow that with a single to put runners at first and third.
David Bote would drive a ball into left-center for a triple to plate two runs and finally give the Panthers the lead.
Max Ising would come on to try and preserve the victory. Ising would allow a walk to start the inning before striking out the next two hitters. He would then coax a weak groundball to third to end the game. Ising recorded his school record ninth save while
Adam Giacalone picked up his eighth win of the year and 18
th of his career.
The Panthers are now 46-14 on the year and advance to the second round of the Central District Tournament where they will face Cowley College. Cowley knocked off Pratt Community College in the second game of the day by a score of 4-3. The teams will play at 2:00pm with the winner advancing to the championship game on Monday while the loser will face Coffeyville who knocked off Pratt to advance.
