Game 1
Game 2
Adam Giacalone blasted three homeruns and
Nick Feighner had one each to help the Panthers sweep Labette Community College and move within a game of first in the Jayhawk East.
Labette jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with three straight two out hits in the first inning off Neosho starter
Daniel Peterson.
Giacalone would pull the Panthers within a run in the third with his first homerun of the day, a two run blast to left.
Labette would get a run back in the top of the fifth before Giacalone tied the game up with his second homerun of the day to tie the game up.
The Cardinals would answer back in the sixth with a pair of runs to regain the lead.
A scoreless seventh by
Max Ising would send the game to the bottom of the seventh down two.
Nick Feighner led the seventh off with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After a pitching change,
Garrett Schaede drove a 3-1 pitch deep to left to tie the game. A hit batter, an error, and a walk loaded the bases
Rowdy Dove stepped in as a pinch hitter. Dove would drive a ball to deep left field to score
Robbe Ewing, and give the Panthers their second walk off win of the week.
Daniel Peterson did not factor into the decision allowing five earned runs in his six innings of work while striking out five.
Labette would once again jump out to an early lead with a run in the top of the first but the lead would be short lived. Giacalone connected for his third homerun of the day, a solo shot, to tie the game at one. It was the second time this week that Giacalone homered to start a ballgame.
The Panthers would take a 4-1 lead when Nick Feigner blasted a hanging curveball to left for a three run shot.
Labette would pick up a pair of runs in the fourth to cut the lead to 4-3. The Panthers would tack on two insurance runs in the fifth on a perfectly executed double squeeze by
Robbe Ewing. A single by
Tyler Palmer would add another insurance run.
After Labette got a run in the top of the seventh,
Max Ising came on and got a double play to end the ball game and pick up his third save of the year.
Chance Sinclair got the win on the mound for the Panthers throwing 6.0 innings while allowing three runs on four hits while striking out five.
The wins extend the Panthers win streak to seven games and make them 29-8 overall and 15-5 in Jayhawk Conference play. They will be back in action Friday and Saturday when they head to Johnson County for a four game series with the Cavaliers. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm both days.
