After struggling to score runs over the weekend, the Neosho County offense broke out of their slump in a big way Wednesday as they scored a season high 12 runs in each game of a double header sweep.
After a scoreless top of the first, the Panthers got off to a quick start thanks to
David Bote's three run homerun. They would tack on two more runs in the inning.
The Panthers would blow the game wide open in the second inning thanks to four solo homeruns.
Robbe Ewing got the inning started with the first homerun of his carreer. After a flyout for the first out of the inning,
Adam Giacalone,
Tyler Palmer, and
Garrett Schaede would blast back-to-back-to-back homeruns.
David Bote would connect for his second homerun of the game in the third to extend the lead.
Evan Smith would add an RBI single as well.
The Panthers would close out their scoring in the fourth when
Connor Kohlscheen tripled and was scored on
Kas Sanders sac fly.
Tanner Dahl would pick up his third win of the season tossing 5.0 innings allowing only 3 hits while walking none and striking out five on his way to his second complete game of the year.
After the homerun outburst in game one, the Panthers would string hits together in game two to score their runs. Neosho County tallied 12 runs on 12 hits in the game with
Adam Giacalone connecting for the team's only homerun, a two run shot in the second. Giacalone also drove in a pair of runs in the first with his double to him within 3 RBI's of the school's career record of 127.
Giacalone and Bote lead the way of the offense again in game two as they combined to go 5-7 at the plate with 6 RBI's and 5 runs scored.
Robbe Ewing would chip in a pair of hits and an RBI to go with his two runs scored.
Tyler Kjellsen picked up his second win of the season throwing 5.0 innings and allowing on one run on two hits while striking out 5.
The Panthers move to 15-4 on the season with the wins. They will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Fort Scott Community College for the first two games of a four game Jayhawk Conference series. First pitch is set for 1:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.
