Game 1
Game 2
Garrett Schaede's one out single in the bottom of the 8th inning plated two runs and gave the Panthers their first conference win of the season. The win helps the Panthers salvage a split for the double header after dropping game one.
In game one every Panther hitter recorded at least one hit including six doubles, but they failed to come through with clutch hits as they left 10 runners on base for the game.
Both teams plated two runs in the first while Coffeyville added a run in third and Neosho added one in the fourth. The big swing of the game came when, with two outs, Coffeyville third baseman Jon Branum doubled to drive in a pair of runs. A Neosho error lead to another run to extend the Red Ravan lead to 6-3.
Coffeyville would tack on two more runs in the top of the sixth thanks to a pair of walks to push the lead to 8-3. In the bottomo half of the sixth, the Panthers would record five straight hits followed by a walk and a sac fly to cut the lead to one, but that is all the closer it would get. Coffeyville would add an insurance run in the seventh after a botched sacrifice bunt attempt resulted in a 3 base error to score a run.
In game two the Panthers would jump out to an early lead thanks to
Adam Giacalone's rbi single. Coffeyville would get the run right back in the second after an error resulted in an unearned run.
Both pitchers would settle in and trade scoreless frames for the next five innings, and head to extra innings tied at 1. Coffeyville would finally get to Neosho starting pitcher
Chance Sinclair with three consecutive singles to plate the go ahead run. A two out double would make the Coffeyville lead 3-1 heading to the bottom of the eighth.
A strikeout and a wild pitch would get the Panthers their first runner of the inning with one out.
Tyler Palmer then drew a walk to put runners on first and second with one out.
Kas Sanders doubled to drive in a run and put runners at second and third for
Garrett Schaede. Schaede would then single to left to score Palmer to tie the game, and Sanders slid under the tag to score the winning run.
The win moves the Panthers to 13-4 overall and 1-3 in Jayhawk Conference play while Coffeyville goes to 6-9 overall and 3-1 in Jayhawk play. Neosho County will be back in action Wednesday when the host Baker University for a double header to begin at 1:00pm.
