Panthers Fall Twice In Jayhawk Conference Opener

Game 1
Game 2

The Neosho County Panthers dropped a pair of one run games to fall to 12-3 overall and 0-2 in Conference Play.

Coffeyville starting pitcher Cole Webb carried a no hitter into the sixth inning before Kas Sanders lead off with a single. Adam Giacalone would double to drive in a run and cut the Red Raven lead to 4-1.

In the seventh the Panthers would score two more runs with RBI's from Chance Sinclair and Kas Sanders, but it would not be enough as the Panthers fell 4-3.

Matt Strahm took the loss on the mound for the Panthers tossing 7.0 innings and allowing four runs on six hits while striking out 13.

The Panthers offensive struggles continued in game two as they were shut out and only able to muster five hits for the game. Connor Kohlscheen was the lone bright spot as he would go 2-3 at the plate.

Adam Giacalone was the hard luck loser on the mound tossing 7.0 innings and scattering seven hits allowing only a single unearned run in the top of the seventh.

The teams will be back in action Sunday when they face off in the final two games of the series. First pitch of the double header is scheduled for 1:00pm. Zoel Lopez will have the call on Hot 105.5 in Chanute, or you can Listen Live online.
