Game 1
Game 2
David Bote drew a bases loaded walk to win game one in extra innings and
Chance Sinclair tossed a shutout to take the series with Kansas City Kansas Community College.
Looking to jumpstart a struggling offense, Panther's Head Coach
Steve Murry moved All-American first baseman
Adam Giacalone to the leadoff spot. The move would immediately pay off as Giacalone drove a 3-2 pitch deep to right center for a homerun.
The Panthers would find themselves down 4-1 heading into the bottom of the third when
David Bote's sacrifice fly cut the Blue Devil lead in half.
The Panther's would regain the lead in the tie the game up in the bottom of the fourth when
Adam Giacalone's two out double scored a pair of runs.
David Bote would follow that up with a single to score Giacalone and put the Panther's back on top.
The Blue Devils would tie the game up in the top of the seventh with a pair of unearned runs of Neosho closer
Max Ising.
Daniel Peterson would not factor into the decision tossing 6.0 innings, allowing nine hits while striking out four.
The Panther's would fail to score in the seventh and the game headed to extra innings. The Panthers would get back to back singles in the bottom of the eighth from
Chance Sinclair and
Jordan Miller to put runners at first and third with one out. After
Adam Giacalone was intentionally walked to load the bases, it was
David Bote's bases loaded walk that would give the Panther's the win.
Bote and Giacalone would lead the way offensively for the Panther's in the game as Giacalone went 3-4 with three runs driven in while scoring two more.
David Bote went 1-2 at the plate with 3 RBI's as well.
Max Ising picked up the win in relief tossing 2.0 innings while striking out two.
In game two,
Chance Sinclair went the distance allowing only four hits while striking out five.
The Panther's would stake Sinclair to an early lead thanks to a pair of singles from
Tyler Palmer and
Garrett Schaede to make the score 2-0.
They would tack on another run in the second when Giacalone doubled to score
Jordan Miller. The Panther's would get two more runs in the fifth consecutive singles from
Robbe Ewing,
Rowdy Dove, and
Kas Sanders.
The runs would prove to be more than enough as Sinclair benefited from three double plays on his way to a shutout for his fourth win of the season.
The wins move the Panther's to 25-8 overall and 11-5 in Jayhawk Conference play. They will be back in action Saturday when they host Labette Community College for “Game On For A Cure” sponsored by Neosho County Relay For Life. There will be special presentations and guest speakers all day. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm, and presentations and speakers begin at 12:45.
