Game 1
Game 2
After dropping the series opener in extra innings, the Panthers bounced back to win game two with their fourth shutout of the season.
The games were delayed three hours due to wet field conditions, but once the games started it was a beutiful day for baseball.
In game one both teams would struggle to score runs. The Panthers would get on the board in the fourth inning after
Adam Giacalone lead off the inning with a double. Giacalone would score on a groundout by
Robbe Ewing.
The Greyhounds would answer back in the bottom of the fourth as they scored a run on three well placed hits. Starting pitcher
Matt Strahm would not allow another hit finishing his day alowing one run in 7.0 innings of work while allowing four hits and striking out nine.
Strahm would hand it over to the bullpen as the game headed to extra innings. After the Panthers left a runner in scoring position in the top of the eighth, the Greyhounds would get their leadoff man on base to start the bottom half. After a failed sacrifice bunt attempt, a single would put runners at first and third with one out. A single by Ft Scott right fielder Cody Ball would score the winning run.
In game two
Adam Giacalone would take the mound and, for the second year in a row, dominate the Fort Scott hitters. A year after striking out 17 Greyhound batters, Giacalone would carry a perfect game into the sixth inning. He would allow a pair of singles to lead off the sixth, but that would be the only blemish for Giacalone on the mound. Giacalone would also strike out 10 in his 7.0 innings of work.
The Panther offense got going in the fourth inning when they scored a pair of runs on three hits.
Kas Sanders had the big of the inning when his two out double scored
Robbe Ewing. The Panthers would add an insurance run in the sixth thanks to a pair of doubles by
David Bote and
Tyler Palmer.
With the split, the Panthers are now 16-5 overall and 2-4 in Jayhawk Conference play. The teams will
