The Neosho County Community College Panthers made the short drive to Iola, Kansas on Saturday night to take on boarder rival Allen County Community College.  The Panthers would come up short, losing 70-61 at the hands of the Red Devils.
 
Bryan Newton (Colony, KS) and Raymond Jeter (Columbia, SC) got the Panthers going early offensively with back to back three pointers in the first minute of the game.
 
The Panthers would extend their lead to as many as nine, taking a 25-16 lead from a Thomas Drew (Grand Rapids, MI) three pointer with 3:43 remaining in the first half.   Neosho County would cling to a 37-31 lead heading into halftime.
 
In the second half, Allen would cut the lead to 37-35 with 18:22 left in the game.  The Panthers surrendered the lead to the Red Devils with 12:16 remaining in the second half.
 
The teams would trade the lead a number of times over the next nine minutes.  Neosho County would see their final lead following a layup from Gregoryshon Magee (New Orleans, LA).  The layup put the Panthers up 57-56 with 5:12 left.
 
The Red Devils regained the lead for the final time off two free throws coming with 3:00 minutes remaining in the contest.
 
Raymond Jeter (Columbia, SC) led the Panthers with 14 points, Chris Patton (Victoria, Australia) added 12 points and 13 rebounds, and Newton contributed 11 in the loss.
 
The loss drops the Panthers to 13-11 on the season and 7-5 in the KJCCC East.  The Panthers will take to the road once again on Wednesday night, this time to play the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers.  The tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
