Volleyball Falls to Cowley as Tigers Extend Win Streak to 51

The Neosho County Panthers faced a tough test when they traveled to Arkansas City, Kansas as the Tigers entered the game winners of their last 50 matches dating back to September 20, 2011. The Tigers also had not lost a home conference match in almost five seasons since Johnson County pulled off the feat on October 7, 2007.

The Panthers came out sluggish in the first set as Cowley jumped all over them cruising to a 25-14 victory in the first set. The Panthers only hit .138 for the set recording only seven kills in 29 chances.

In the second set the Panthers would begin to find their legs as they outhit the Tigers .220 to .127. The Panthers would take a lead late into the set as they led 24-19. Cowley would answer back, however, as they went on a 7-0 run to end the set.

Cowley would go on to take the third set 25-20 while hitting an impressive .342. The Panthers would hit well in the match as they hit .294 but it was not enough to take down the Tigers.

Yuleika Jimenez gave the Panthers yet another double-double as she notched 14 kills while hitting .387 to go with her 13 digs.

The Panthers will be back in action Wednesday (Oct. 17) when they travel to Fort Scott to take on the Greyhounds.
