The Panthers faced the Rough Riders of Crowder College on Tuesday for their final tune up before post season play gets under way this weekend at Hudson Field. The Panthers would lose 2-1 to fall to 43-12 overall. It marks the tenth time this season that the Panthers have lost by two runs or less.
Crowder starting pitcher Mike Sisco was dominant on the mound for the Rough Riders allowing only two hits in eight innings of work while striking out 11. His only real blemish came in the second when Nick Doughty blasted an 0-1 pitch over the right field wall for his eighth homerun of the season. That would be the only run the Panthers would plate on the day.
Jon Furlong took the loss on the mound allowing only a pair of runs in his five innings of work. Clint Barnes tossed three scoreless innings of relief, and Tyler Kjellsen tossed a scoreless ninth, but it would not be enough.
The Panthers finish the regular season 43-12 overall and 26-3 in conference play. They will now host the first round of the regional tournament starting on Saturday morning.
