Panthers split a pair to open up series at KCK

Game 1

KCK starting pitcher Jake McMains had the Panthers number early in game one as he allowed only a pair of walks through the first five innings. The Blue Devils offense jumped on Neosho starting pitcher Daniel Peterson scoring a single run in each of the first three innings while recording five hits.

The Panther offense would finally get to McMains in the sixth inning with back to back hits from Eric Dawson and Austen Colt. A pair of sacrifice flies off the bats of Caleb Compton and Adam Giacalone would cut the lead to one at 3-2. That is all the scoring the Panthers would muster as KCK closer Logan Forbis would leave the bases loaded to end the threat.

Peterson was the hard luck loser tossing six innings and allowing three runs, only two of which were earned, while walking three and striking out seven.

Game 2

Adam Giacalone would allow a single run in the first inning, and that is all the Blue Devils would get before tacking on a late run off reliever Max Ising. The freshman tossed eight innings allowing only the one run on three hits while walking one and striking out five to pick up his fifth win on the season.

The game was tight for seven innings before the Panthers blew it wide open scoring seven runs in the eighth inning to take an 11-1 lead. The Panthers would take advantage of three Blue Devil errors in the inning to score their seven runs on only four hits. For the game eight different Panthers recorded a hit while seven different players scored a run.
