The Neosho County Panthers picked up a pair of non-conference wins Wednesday when Baker University visited Hudson Field. Neosho County swept the double header by scores of 10-0 and 15-0.
On the same day Adam Giacalone was named the NJCAA National Player of the Week, he went 3-6 at the plate while hitting his sixth and seventh homeruns while driving in four runs to push his team leading total to 35.
On the mound Nick Fowble picked up the win in game one tossing four scoreless innings allowing only one hit and walk while striking out six.
In game two is was Jon Furlong who picked up with win striking out five while allowing only a single hit in his three innings scoreless innings.
Neosho County moves to 16-8 overall and 8-4 in conference play with the victories. The Panthers have now won eight of their last nine games.
They will be back in action Saturday March 26 when they host Independence Community College for the first two games of a four game series. Independence comes into the weekend with a 2-20 record overall and 1-11 in Jayhawk Conference play. Game time is set for 1:00 on both Saturday and Sunday.
