Yuya Nakamura

Yuya Nakamura enters his 7th year at Neosho County Community College as the Head Athletic Trainer after serving one year as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. Nakamura currently works on a day-to-day basis with the Panther’s Sports Medicine and also serves as an instructor for the athletic training classes.

Nakamura who spent five years prior to Neosho at Texas A&M University – Commerce (currently known as East Texas A&M University) as Assistant Athletic Trainer/Rehabilitation Coordinator, mainly worked with the Lions Volleyball and Men's and Women's Basketball teams. He also served as an Assistant/Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with University of South Florida from 2009-2011 and primarily worked with the Men's Soccer team. He also worked as an Intern Athletic Trainer at Campbell University and also primarily covered the Men’s Soccer team along with other spring sport duties.

Nakamura earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Science at Chukyo University in 2001. He came to the United States where he attended High Point University in NC, earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Athletic Training and Exercise Science in May of 2008 and received his Master of Arts in Exercise Science from University of South Florida in May of 2011.

He has been BOC Certified Athletic Trainer for 15 years and has been an active license for an athletic trainer in the state of Kansas. He also holds a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP). Moreover, he is an active member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association and College Athletic Trainers Society. His expertise is functional/sports specific rehabilitation, the assessment and treatment of muscle imbalance and movement impairment syndromes, spinal manipulation, and blood flow restriction training.
